Following are the requirements, (simplified), necessary to acquire an ULTRA-LIGHT PILOT PERMIT:
Non Passenger Carrying Rating - Ultralight Aeroplane.
You must be able to reach the rudder pedals to start training.
Minimum age required to solo is 14 years.
Minimum age required to get an ultra-light permit is 16 years.
A self signed medical declaration.
20 hours of ground school in class.
Pass, (60%), the Transport Canada written exam; multiple choice.
A minimum of 10 hours flight training within the last 24 months,
including a minimum of: 5 hours dual instruction and 2 hours solo.
Pass a pre-solo exam.
Passenger Carrying Rating - Ultralight Aeroplane.

Pass a flight test
Flight Instructor Rating - Ultralight Aeroplane.
Minimum age required to get a Flight instructor Rating is 18 years.
A Category 3 Medical Certificate
20 hours of ground school in class.
Pass, (90%), the Transport Canada written exam; multiple choice.
A minimum of 10 hours classroom training on instructional techniques.
Pass, (80%), the Transport Canada written exam on instructional techniques.
A minimum of 50 hours total flight time within the last 24 months, including a minimum of 5 hours dual instruction, 25 hours solo and 5 hours dual instruction covering instructional techniques.
Pass a flight test
